The Cistercian monks re-established Fiastra Abbey on march 21st, 1985.
They are now living on the East side of the ancient monastery, observing the Rule of St Benedict.
The Cistercians follow a demanding timetable of prayer, and religious duties take up a considerable portion of their time.
A special characteristic of Cistercian life is also manual labour. The Cistercian monks in Fiastra Abbey are also in charge of the parish.
